ARTIST STATEMENt
I am an abstract artist using varied mediums and techniques, including painting with oil or acrylic, collage, or printmaking.
With a background in mathematics, a mindset of solving equations exists. Like writing equations on a chalkboard, erasing and reconstructing, many layers are slowly and mindfully created and destroyed. Unlike mathematics, making artwork is a guilty pleasure of finding several solutions and many possible pathways.
Relationships between the characters are my muse, figurative objects, scribbled lines, or wonky shapes. These images come from observing even the mundane and a sketchbook practice of lyrically filling pages with these objects that intermingle, overlap, or bump into each other, similar to humans in a bustling space. And with each, the intent is to find some calm in the chaos. In life and in art.
